ATM withdrawal and balance inquiry fees have become a major concern for customers in Egypt, especially given the variance in fees between banks and the diverse policies followed by each financial institution. Although the Central Bank of Egypt sets a maximum limit for these fees, some banks impose additional amounts that vary depending on the type of transaction and card issuer. Urgent decision by the Central Bank: At its second meeting of 2025, the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank decided to reduce key interest rates by 225 basis points, to become as follows: Overnight deposit rate: 25% Overnight lending rate: 26% Main transaction rate: 25.5%. Last April, the Central Bank of Egypt decided to raise the maximum daily withdrawal limit from ATMs to EGP 30,000 from EGP 20,000, and to increase the daily withdrawal limit from branches to EGP 250,000 from EGP 150,000.
